Requirements:

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Java
• You write high-quality code and take pride in doing things properly — you're not afraid to go deep and push for engineering excellence
• Solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Solid knowledge and experience working with Kafka
• Experience with API design and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization
• Fluent English and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Nice to Have:

• Experience with serverless frameworks (e.g., AWS Lambda)
• Exposure to financial or insurance domains is a plus

About the Project

A startup building a valuation and analytics platform for the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market. The platform ingests unstructured ILS deal documentation and applies transparent, standardized methodologies to price every security, every day using only publicly available data. Product’s goal is to support the continued growth and professionalization of the ILS market by providing consistent, audit-ready valuations and real-time reference indices. These tools help the entire ILS ecosystem—sponsors, banks, managers, allocators, repo desks, auditors, regulators, administrators, and public stakeholders—understand how risk is being priced in the capital markets and how portfolios are performing relative to evolving market conditions. By aligning capital markets with clear, data-driven valuation, product contributes to a more efficient and transparent global risk transfer system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java
• Design and optimize SQL-based data models and queries
• Build and expose APIs for data access and integration
• Work with large volumes of structured and unstructured data
• Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews
• Collaborate with DevOps and frontend teams to ensure end-to-end reliability
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical planning
