For one of our international clients, we are building an entirely new accounting services team in Kraków. We are looking for an experienced professional for the position of Chief Accountant (Główny Księgowy), who will help build and lead a small team from the ground up to serve a new, major client. This is a role with real prospects for rapid development – as the team grows, the natural next step will be to take on the function of General Ledger Manager.Project Information:Project type: accountingLocation: KrakówWork schedule: Monday to Friday (8 hours), hybrid 3+2 modelRequired English level: B2/C1Salary: PLN 15,000 – 20,000 grossKey Responsibilities:Coordination and supervision of a small accounting team (3 people: AP, AR, and GL with VAT responsibility)Providing substantive support to the team in all daily accounting processes (purchase and sales invoices, account reconciliations, inquiries to counterparties, general ledger postings, tax settlements)Full responsibility for month-end closing processes and ensuring timeliness and accuracy of reportingActing as the main point of contact for the client and internal stakeholders regarding accounting mattersMotivating, training, and developing team membersActive participation in the migration project and implementation of accounting processes from the client to the Kraków centreIdentifying and implementing improvements as well as standardizing processesEnsuring compliance with internal control policy, IFRS, and local tax regulationsWe Expect:Minimum 3 years of experience in the role of Chief Accountant or Independent Accountant with full responsibility for accountingVery good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS / MSSF)Experience in a manufacturing environment (experience in SSC/BPO also welcome)Documented experience in independently managing the full accounting cycle (ownership of GL, periodic closings, VAT and other tax settlements)Experience in managing or mentoring even a small team (a significant advantage)Practical knowledge in optimizing and standardizing accounting processesFluent command of English (daily contact with international teams)Higher education in a relevant field (finance and accounting) and professional qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, certified auditor or equivalent – in progress or completed)Very good knowledge of MS ExcelExperience working with SAP system (FI/CO modules)We Offer:Participation in a strategic, long-term project from the very beginningA clear development path leading to a managerial roleBenefits package (private medical care, sports card, insurance, bonuses)Annual bonusOpportunity to work in a dynamic, international environmentCompetitive salary commensurate with experience and scope of responsibilities
