Organization: Transgender Health and Wellness Center

Location: Palm Springs (Coachella Valley), California (Remote)

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST)

Department: Finance / Accounting

Reports To: Senior Accountant

Pay Range

$21.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

This pay range complies with applicable pay transparency laws.

Position Summary

The Transgender Health and Wellness Center is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk I to support daily accounting and financial operations within a mission-driven nonprofit healthcare organization. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will assist with transactional accounting, account reconciliations, and payroll support while maintaining accurate financial records. Experience in nonprofit accountingQuickBooks Online, and medical billing systems such as Office Ally is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine accounting and clerical duties, including accurate data entry
  • Assist with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
  • Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and payments in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
  • Assist with month-end close and financial reporting activities
  • Assist with payroll processing and related reporting
  • Support medical billing and claims processing, including Office Ally, as needed
  • Communicate with internal departments and external vendors
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and organizational policies
  • Includes other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in accounting or bookkeeping required
  • Prior nonprofit organization experience strongly preferred
  • Required: 1–2 years of experience using QuickBooks Online
  • Payroll support experience required; ADP payroll experience a plus
  • Medical billing experience preferred; Office Ally experience a plus
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
