YOUR PROJECT

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing a state-of-the-art automated underwriting engine. With over 5 years of experience in Python, you will be responsible for supporting the testing and debugging of the engine, as well as assisting with the design, implementation, and review of new engine functionality.

YOUR TASKS

• Architect and implement the automated underwriting engine using AWS services such as Sagemaker and Lambda.
• Develop robust, maintainable, and efficient code in Python to power the underwriting engine.
• Independently program and debug, ensuring high-quality code and system reliability.
• Create and execute comprehensive unit and integration tests using Pytest to ensure code quality.
• Utilize Git for version control, ensuring seamless collaboration and code management.
• Perform data manipulation and analysis using the Pandas library to support underwriting decisions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues to maintain system performance and reliability.
• Optimize the engine for performance and scalability, ensuring it can handle high volumes of data and transactions.
• Document technical specifications, processes, and user guides to support ongoing development and maintenance.
• Conduct code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high coding standards.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the underwriting engine.
• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives

YOUR PROFILE

• 5+ years of demonstrated experience with Python.
• Capable of independent programming and debugging.
• Comfortable with mid-sized codebases and best practices surrounding automated testing and version control (we use Git).
• Proficiency in AWS services, particularly Sagemaker and Lambda.
• Experience with Pytest for unit and integration testing.
• Experience with the Pandas library for data manipulation and analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Exposure to machine learning and data science concepts.
• Knowledge of other AWS services and cloud architecture.
• Experience in the insurance industry or with underwriting processes.
