Your responsibilities

• Driving the continuous enhancement of AvaFin's Risk Management and Control Framework, ensuring seamless integration with Capitec’s risk management framework.
• Active participation in the identification, assessment, and reporting of risks, with a particular emphasis on operational risks.
• Supporting the design and execution of effective risk mitigation strategies.
• Contributing to the development and enforcement of policies and procedures that embed operational risk considerations into AvaFin’s decision-making processes.
• Coordinating ongoing monitoring of key identified risks through Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and assist in the preparation of reports for the Compliance Committee, Executive Committee (ExCo), and Capitec.
• Conducting regular risk assessments to ensure alignment with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Overseeing the management of risk-related incidents and maintaining the loss register, including thorough analysis and diligent follow-up on corrective actions.

Our requirements

• Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience in risk management, preferably in a Financial institution.
• CRM (Certified Risk Manager) or FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certification or equivalent or completed postgraduate studies in a relevant field is a plus.
• Excellent knowledge and practical experience of risk assessment, control mechanisms, and compliance regulations.
• Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment.
• Fluency in English.
