Your responsibilities

  • We are seeking an experienced and visionary Team Leader to guide and manage a team of 6 to 8 Technology Research Analysts (PhD, postdocs). This leadership role is critical to ensuring the quality, rigor, and strategic relevance of our discovery process. You will oversee early-stage technical evaluations, hypothesis-driven research, and competitive intelligence, while mentoring a high-performing analyst team operating in a high-tempo, venture-oriented environment.
  • You will bring deep technical fluency, strong leadership acumen, and ideally a background in MedTech or adjacent sectors, coupled with a working understanding of the startup and VC ecosystem.
  • Team Leadership – lead and coach a team of 6 to 8 research analysts to deliver high-quality technical insights that inform product and venture strategy. Foster a culture of intellectual rigor, autonomy, and curiosity.
  • Research Oversight - Guide the team in conducting technical landscape analysis, solution benchmarking, and risk/opportunity assessments related to new product concepts.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with Primary Market Research, IP, BD, Legal, Financial, and other commercial and back-office teams to ensure seamless integration of research into venture development.
  • Quality Assurance & Delivery - Review and refine research outputs including reports, technical deep dives, competitor maps, and strategic recommendations to ensure actionable insights and clarity for stakeholders.
  • Process & Tools Optimization - Optimize research workflows, knowledge management practices, reporting and tooling across the team to improve efficiency, insight quality, and reproducibility.
  • Strategic Contribution - Participate in opportunity assessments, investment memos, and early due diligence processes in collaboration with senior leadership.

Our requirements

  • Education: PhD degree in Life Sciences (preferably), Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or another highly analytical discipline.
  • Startup Experience: 5+ years in technical research, innovation, product development or startup discovery; at least2 years in a team lead or management role.
  • VC Experience: Venture Capital experience (at least as an analyst).
  • Domain Familiarity: Prior exposure to MedTech, HealthTech, BioTech, or digital health sectors preferred.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, develop, and retain analytical talent in a high-performance environment.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong grasp of experimental systems, biology, physical modeling, and technology readiness evaluation.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align research outcomes with broader business and venture strategy.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, especially in summarizing complex technical topics for diverse stakeholders, ability to explain difficult concept to general audience
  • Startup/VC Mindset: Understanding of the dynamics of early-stage ventures, including time-to-market, business development, risk, and scalability considerations
