Your responsibilities

• Collect data from internal sources, lab instruments, or team members.
• Clean and format data into consistent tables (e.g., correct column names, fix typos, handle missing values).
• Organize files and ensure data is ready for analysis
• Use existing tools and scripts to perform standard analyses on test results.
• Generate summary tables and charts (e.g., distributions, comparisons, time trends).
• Support ongoing experiments by preparing updated datasets.
• Check data for common issues like duplicates, unexpected values, or formatting errors.
• Report unusual findings or gaps in the data to the team.
• Help maintain consistency across datasets from different sources or sites.
• Run and adapt predefined Python scripts (in Jupyter notebooks).
• Help improve or adjust scripts for specific use cases under supervision.
• Learn how to write simple custom scripts to solve new data tasks.
• Document data sources, assumptions, and processing steps.
• Prepare short reports or visual summaries for internal use.
• Work closely with analysts, lab staff, and microbiologists to understand data context.

Our requirements

• Basic skills in Python (especially pandas and Jupyter notebooks).
• Some understanding of data tables, file formats (CSV/Excel), and basic statistics.
• Attention to detail and a careful approach to handling data.
• Willingness to learn in a scientific, team-based environment.
• Willingness and motivation to stay with the team long-term (1 year or more).

Optional

• Interest in microbiology, diagnostics, or health-related topics.
• Experience working with lab, clinical, or scientific data.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn).
• Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), SQL, or basic testing practices.

What we offer

• During the internship as a Junior Data Analyst, you will support our research and product teams by helping organize, clean, and analyze data collected from our lab tests and instruments. You will also help prepare reports and visualizations to support internal decision-making and documentation. After the internship period (typically 3–6 months), there is an opportunity for long-term employment (1+ year or more) if both sides are satisfied with the collaboration.
