Requirements description

• 3+ years of experience in team management with Agile methodology.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
• 2+ years working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and JBoss.
• Experience with multi-threaded programming and developing WebAPI/REST services.
• Familiarity with messaging queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Excellent communication skills in English and Polish (C1 or higher).
• Strong soft skills: empathy, communication, conflict resolution, and a partnership approach to teamwork.

Java Backend Team Lead

Orange Innovation Poland | Viaccess-Orca TV Platform

As a Java Backend Team Lead, you will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership and organizational skills. You will guide a highly skilled team of Java developers, ensuring technical excellence, smooth collaboration, and continuous growth—both for the product and your colleagues. You will play a crucial role in the ongoing development and evolution of the Viaccess-Orca Hybrid TV platform, contributing directly to the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex backend applications.

This position can be based on both a Contract of Employment and a B2B Contract, with fully remote (from within Poland only) work model - hybrid work from one of our Polish offices is also possible if you so choose. Fluency in both Polish and English is a hard requirement.

Your responsibilities

1. Platform Development: Actively contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of the Viaccess-Orca TV platform, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-quality backend solutions.
2. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and support a team of experienced Java developers; Foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment; Facilitate regular pair programming and ad hoc problem-solving sessions.
3. Code Review Process: Organize and delegate code review duties, ensuring shared responsibility and process rotation to avoid bottlenecks; Maintain high code quality and adherence to architectural standards.
4. Technical Guidance: Provide hands-on technical support and guidance in Java backend development; Collaborate with architects and other leads on system architecture and technology choices.
5. Communication & Facilitation: Act as a point of contact for resolving work-related or communication issues within the team; Facilitate daily stand-ups, team meetings, and cross-team communication; Proactively flag and escalate blockers or delays to ensure timely delivery.
6. Organizational Support: Coordinate team events, reminders, and administrative tasks (e.g., documentation, vacation planning, delegations); Support the team in non-technical matters, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
