• Position: Tech Lead Scala Engineer

• Location: Kraków (hybrid)

• Contract type: Permanent or B2B

We are hiring a Tech Lead Scala Engineer for our client – a global tech company developing a large-scale, real-time digital platform. This role is ideal for someone who wants to stay close to the code, lead a skilled engineering team, and influence both architecture and delivery. As a hands-on lead, you’ll balance people management with deep technical involvement, ensuring scalability, clean code, and continuous delivery.

What you’ll do:

• Lead a team responsible for building and maintaining a core backend service

• Shape engineering practices, coding standards, and testing strategies

• Oversee architecture, ensure reliability and scalability of backend components

• Review code, manage technical debt, and drive high-quality delivery

• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and delivery managers

• Guide the team through sprints — from planning to deployment

• Track progress, manage risks, and coordinate cross-team dependencies

• Support team members with regular 1:1s, feedback, and mentorship

• Take part in hiring and help grow a high-performing engineering culture

Tech environment: Scala / Kafka / AWS / Cassandra / Redis / PostgreSQL / Docker / Kubernetes / CI/CD / New Relic / Splunk

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer (ideally in real-time systems)

• Solid knowledge of Scala and functional programming

• Experience with distributed architectures, APIs, and event-driven systems

• Strong understanding of cloud platforms and observability tooling

• 1+ year of experience in technical leadership or team management

• Agile mindset and a strong sense of ownership
