Global Defense Engineering is responsible for building solutions that protect the organization from a wide range of threats targeting the business, its customers, partners and employees. The team works closely with other departments to develop smart and flexible defense tools that keep up with constantly evolving risks. Their mission is simple: to help the company operate safely wherever it does business.
What will you do:
Define secure configuration standards for various database systems like Oracle, Db2, SAP ASE, SQL Server, Db2 z/OS, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Teradata and Hadoop
Collaborate with database experts to agree on secure configuration baselines
Work with these experts to create and implement compliance checks
Support IT Service Owners by providing clear remediation guidance
Make sure the Configuration Baseline Management team gets the necessary compliance data
Talk to different stakeholders across the company to understand their security needs
Define and maintain a strategy for this capability – working alongside Enterprise and Security Architecture teams, Control Owners and others – taking into account business goals, regulatory expectations, new technologies, best practices and changing threats
Ensure smooth cooperation with delivery partners, lead relevant meetings such as delivery forums, QBRs, steering committees and capability pods
Manage and prioritise the capability backlog based on goals and value, help other tech and operations teams do the same
Own vendor relationships related to supported technologies
Keep an eye on new tech and ways of working that could impact the capability or its controls
Track and report performance using agreed metrics and indicators
Work closely with Control Owners to provide technical support in assessing control issues and risks
Cooperate with Service Owners to stay updated on service performance, exceptions, feedback and improvement plans
Collaborate with Technology/Platform Owners to monitor IT service health, bugs, tech risks, user feedback and plans for upgrades or technical debt resolution
Run a dedicated pod for each L2 capability – bringing together Architecture, Engineering, Service Delivery, Control Owners, Program Managers and Product Managers
Take ownership of all medium- and lower-risk control issues, audit points and regulatory findings
Skills:
Minimum 7 years’ indepth experience with multiple database technologies from the list of Oracle, DB2, SAP ASE, SQL Server, DB2 z/OS, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Teradata, Hadoop
Demonstrated experience with database platform security
Minimum 2 years’ experience leading a technical team
Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks
Strong stakeholder management skills
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
Customer-centric consultancy approach
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively
Reliant and adaptive to changing situations, with strong desire to delegate and empower the team
